Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei: "It represents the beginning of URWERK. It is the beginning of everything. This year it is celebrating its 25th birthday, just as URWERK itself is celebrating 25 years of its existence". It stems from their first collaboration, the UR-102 – definitely one of the most nostalgic and coveted models of URWERK collectors. "It's a watch for our first circle, friends, family. Those who believed in us first, so it's a very emotional work."
The good news is that it will be back in the spotlight on December 10, 2022, this time in a "reloaded" version. A one-of-a-kind piece, #1 of the UR-102 «Reloaded» series. On December 10, 2022, in support of the emerging art scene, URWERK will present a one-of-a-kind creation - UR-102 "Reloaded" to the Swiss Institute in New York 1.
The motivation behind this project is very clear. Martin Frei, chief designer and co-founder of URWERK, said: "After graduating from the University of Arts and Applied Sciences in Lucerne, I started my creative journey in New York. With a few friends, we created the American Society (United Swiss Artists) ), an anchor point away from home, a point of fall, or rather a point of support in difficult times. I found the same philosophy in the approach of the Swiss Institute. So our participation in this project is self-evident of"

#1 UR-102 «Reloaded» will be auctioned under the auspices of Phillips. This one-piece edition stems from a collaboration with American contemporary artist Cooper Jacoby, who reinterprets one of URWERK's most iconic and defining creations: a new "reloaded" version of the UR-102. Jacoby is an up-and-coming artist concerned with the functioning of the systems that govern our lives. Through innovative manipulations of materials such as nickel, copper, rubber and silicon, the artist creates inspiring sculptures that transform the often unseen into striking and vibrant perceptions.
In this case, Jacobi revisited the concept of graduation. The first "reloaded" UR-102 displayed a wandering hour countdown in both analog and digital format. On the dial of this one-of-a-kind watch, Jacoby uses thermochromic pigments to embody one of the body's most important regulatory systems: temperature. Thus, the dial of this UR-102 transforms through a series of infinitely changing hues, interacting with and responding to thermal changes. A "reloaded" UR-102 immersed in a regular flux state.
Jacoby and URWERK's creations are dedicated to constant renewal, combining the systematic precision of timekeeping with the harmony of human biology.
