UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday "condemned in the strongest terms the cowardly and heinous terrorist attack" in Iraq last week, reiterating that "any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable."

In a press statement issued here Wednesday night, the 15-nation UN body reaffirmed that "terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security."

The council members also expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, and to the people and the government of Iraq, the statement said.
